Marlborough, of the northern coast of the New Zealand's South Island, is within easy reach of Wellington. Home to around 60 major vineyards, wineries and breweries, the journey from central Wellington to Marlborough lasts around three hours by ferry or approximately 30 minutes by plane from Wellington airport.

Although Marlborough is a relatively young wine region, with the oldest vineyards dating back to the early 1970s, the extremely scenic area of Marlborough features one of the largest wine regions in the whole of New Zealand and now produces some of the countries finest wines, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and also Champenoise, all of which are highly regarded throughout the world.
